Today we have an important announcement to make. Finnish Sim Racing Association ry (FiSRA), along with governing bodies Finnish Motorsport Federation (AKK) and Finnish Esports Federation (SEUL) have come to an agreement regarding the status of international drivers in Digital Racing eSM.
For the first time, we'll be opening the entries of our domestic sim racing championship to international competitors. Drivers from FIA member states (excluding those suspended from international competitions, such as Russia and Belarus) will be allowed to compete in Digital Racing eSM in 2025 and, should the feedback from drivers and organisation alike be positive, hopefully beyond.
The story of Digital Racing eSM began in 2015, with the founding of Finnish Sim Racing Association ry. It was first known as Finnish Sim Racing Championship (FSRC), and as FiSRA joined forces with SEUL in 2016, it attained the official status of a national championship. That year also saw our first live finals at Assembly Summer. We joined AKK in 2019, making our status official not only as a competitive esport, but a form of competitive motorsport, too. The series rebranded itself as Digital Racing eSM in 2020, a name we still carry today.
During these years we've held live national finals in both circuit and rallycross racing, crowned champions, showcased the sport to a nationally televised audience, and introduced countless new people to sim racing - both as a hobby and as a competitive sport.
This is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase our flagship series to a global audience. With a decade of experience from organising national championships and a long history of high-level online racing tracing back to turn of the Millennium, we're confident that this is the right time to extend a hand towards the international community. We all share the same passion: That of speed, racing, and competing wheel to wheel. It's that passion which has driven us forward in all these years, and will continue to do so well into the future.
We will unveil our rules & regulations for 2025 by the end of February, and open sign-ups for both domestic & international competitors at that point. We will also include an information package for new drivers later this month. If you have any questions before then, please contact us via email: hallitus [at] simracing.fi .
See you on the track!
